I am an independent vendor for the University of Utah and am starting a new venture in a college/university related field.  I am looking for a good results-oriented web designer/developer with a thorough understanding of website usability.  We are building a sizeable website from scratch and require both strong, technical and creative skills.

Software Quality Assurance (SQA)




Responsibilities:

- Performs functional, application, and performance tests.
- Executes automated testing procedures and programs.
- Design and implement testing processes and Software Quality Assurance (SQA) methodologies necessary to deliver scalable, maintainable, and defect-free system(s) in an on-time and cost effective manner.
- Serve as QA interface with software developers and end-users.
- Reports significant defects and tracks all defects and project issues.
- Analyzes test results from a technical standpoint and the ability to isolate defects prior to escalating to the development team for resolution.
- Track test coverage and other metrics.
- Contribute to the continuous advancement of current QA processes and maintain repeatable processes.
- Work closely with the development team to develop automated and manual testing strategies.
- May plan and direct the testing performed by others involved in the qualification of products and applications.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following:

- 2+ years experience in Software Development with a focus in Software Quality Assurance (SQA) or Software Testing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Adaptable and flexible to the work environment, handling multiple tasks concurrently
- Experience with QA and manual testing techniques and processes, including black box/white box, bug reporting and tracking, test case writing, and test execution.
- Experience mentoring and guiding less experienced testersUnderstanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), specifically the Agile Methodology (Scrum, XP, Lean, Kanban, etc.)
- Familiarity with Web 2.0 technologies (Javascript, SOA, AJAX, CSS, SOAP, HTML).
- Experience with Software Test Automation, including API or Web Services testing (Selenium, Watir, JMeter, REST, SOAPUI, XMLRPC,etc.)
- Experience testing web-based, enterprise applications.
- Experience using source code repositories (Git, Subversion, TFS, etc.) Mac or Linux Desktop environments a plus, but not required.
- Some experience with coding and scripting (Java, Python, C#, etc.) in a testing role

Job Duties: Main job functions include providing one–on-one academic advising to current and prospective University students with regard to graduation requirements, interpretation of DARS reports, appropriate class selection, transfer articulation, University policies and other academic issues. Other duties may include small group presentations, representation at events on and off campus and facilitation of workshops on issues that address student suc-cess. 

Minimum Requirements: Current University of Utah student in good academic standing. Strong communication skills. Commitment to provide quality service to students. 

Preferences: Advising, tutoring, or customer service experience is preferred. Microsoft Of-fice proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Pub-lisher) is strongly desired.

Internship Opportunity

We have two AWESOME positions for summer interns, preferably junior or senior class students with a strong possibility for continued employment beyond summer. Software Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE)


Data Systems International (DSI) is a leading provider of best-in-class data management solutions for Health and Human Services Organizations worldwide. We have an immediate opening for a Quality Assurance Engineer in our Salt Lake City, UT based headquarters. DSI develops ClientTrack™ software (http://www.clienttrack.com/) solutions for Health, Human and Social Services organizations.

DSI is looking for a candidate with technical skills coupled with the ability to see a software solution from the perspective of an end-user. A DSI Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) is an integral part of the DSI team. A DSI QAE work with service delivery, product management, support staff, and customers to assure that DSI provides high quality products and services to our clients.

Scope:

The QAE is charged with supporting our Service Delivery department to ensure performance, availability, and quality. The QAE will test software development and configuration according to quality assurance best practices. Currently, the position requires one full time employee to accomplish duties. The QAE is expected to play the role of a leader who sets and enforces high standards of quality. The QAE will be actively engaged in deployment of numerous customer implementations as well as internal project delivery.  The QAE will interface regularly with the COO, CFO, Director of Service Delivery, Product Management, and development.

Responsibilities:

Ensure availability and performance of databases that support the application
Quality assurance of end-user applications (development/ deployment of test cases, producing findings, regression testing)
Diagnosing, reporting, tracking and resolving quality issues

Scope


Data-Systems International (DSI) provides ClientTrack solutions that encompass both software and services designed to meet the unique needs of individual organizations, multi-organizational collaborations, and multi-divisional state or local governments. DSI clients are primarily Health, Human and Social Service organizations.
The primary responsibility of a DSI project manager is to provide our clients with high quality solutions that are delivered to the client’s satisfaction. At DSI, project managers also serve as business analysts to gather requirements and determine the right solution to advance the missions of our clients by enhancing their ability to gather, use and report information. A  DSI project manager works directly with DSI clients throughout a project’s life cycle.

 

Roles & Responsibilities


Project Management – A DSI project manager’s primary responsibility is the successful implementation of their assigned projects. Responsibilities in the project lifecycle that support successful projects include:
·       Project Planning
    • Develop a clear problem statement
    • Understand and document stakeholders
    • Define project objectives
    • Determine and document scope
    • Identify resources needed
    • Estimate Cost
    • Create schedule
·       Initiate
    • Kickoff call with project team and client
    • Conduct Day in the Life (DiTL) analysis activity as first event after project kickoff
    • Assemble project team – DSI project teams often include engineers, developers, DBAs, and quality analysts.
    • Assign tasks and provide detailed instructions (i.e. work packets) for assigned tasks.
·       Implementation
    • Manage project execution
    • Report progress to client and internal (DSI) stakeholders
    • Conduct regular project meetings
    • Release project deliverables for User Acceptance testing
·       Closeout
    • Work closely with clients to ensure successful use of the final product
    • Provide a sustainability plan for each project that includes instructions for ongoing support
    • Conduct project post-mortems to review project performance and share lessons learned with peers
    • Ensure project documentation and related assets are stored in the project file

Solution Engineering - A DSI project manager serves as a business analyst (formal title “Solution Engineer”) with potential and existing clients. The purpose of this role is to pinpoint the problem the project is intended to resolve, develop requirements, and produce a scope of work that solves the problem. In this role, a DSI project manager is responsible for:
  • Creating the contract scope of work. The contract scope of work is a proposed solution to the problem the project is intended to solve.
  • Reviewing RFPs (requests for proposals/pricing) to determine the appropriate scope of work and cost of implementation projects. The solution engineer is responsible for documenting the scope of work in a proposal delivered as part of the RFP response.
  • Responsible for creating solutions that:
·       Establish organizational best practices through improved efficiency
·       Optimize collaborations within and between organizations
·       Ensure compliance with funding sources
·       Enhance outcomes reporting to strengthen fundraising and build community awareness
  • Working with existing clients of DSI when a solution project is needed. In this role, DSI solution engineers will analyze the problem and produce a scope of work. In some cases the problem resolution results in a services-based contract with the client.

  • A DSI project manager is an expert on the use of the ClientTrack Enterprise Data Management Tools and Platform
  • A DSI project manager understands how ClientTrack solutions, features, and benefits provide value to their clients
  • A DSI project manager is a valuable member of a team. It is expected that a DSI project manager will collaborate with other project managers, participate in team meetings, and provider backup support to other team members when needed.
  • Bolster knowledge management system through the development of relevant content based on interactions with clients.

o   The quality and fitness of a proposed solution during pre-contract analysis

o   Documenting client engagements, client needs, and other relevant details necessary to ensuring client delight
·       Demonstrate exceptional proficiency with the ClientTrack configuration and reporting tools
·       Maintain a scorecard, metrics and goals, for reporting to senior staff monthly
·       Produce bi-weekly Contract Status Reports (CSRs)
·       Create, maintain and publish a Personal Planning and Status Report that includes assigned tasks, backlog, and planned/forecasted dates for each.

Education, Work Experience and Skills


Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, business information systems, project management and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Two or more years of project management experience
  • PMP or other professional project management certification preferred
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
  • Must have excellent communication (written and oral) skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong self-sufficiency and initiative when working with clients
  • Must be able to think critically and analytically
  • Comprehensive understanding of relational data models and data analysis
