Hardware Failure Analysis Engineer

Job Description:

A highly-talented, proven individual to join the Systems Engineering department working on Storage Area Networks.

Responsibilities:

--High speed board design of network hardware (probe and server)
--The Engineer will own full board development including concept, specification, schematic design, layout support, bring-up, debug, manufacturing release and sustaining product support
--FPGA design and verification using Verilog
--The Engineer will work with system software to define and implement on-board diagnostic testing

Skills and Experience:

--Experience with high speed board design and PCB layout techniques
--Candidate should have a solid understanding of high speed signal integrity
--Experience designing some of the following: SERDES, DDR2, DDR3, PCI Express, Fibre Channel, FCoE, SATA, SAS, SSD, Xeon processors, server mother board, power supply, microcontrollers

Java Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Description:

The candidate will work closely with other API test developers as well as the engineering team in writing/executing tests that verify the functionality of both the client/server software suite as well as the integration with the hardware and software probes.

Required Skills:

Java Engineer

Responsibilities:

The Software Engineer will systematically examine application challenges and provide technical solutions to customer reported incidents.  Additional responsibilities include providing solutions for engineering code issues, research of errors, incident reproduction in a lab environment, diagnostics/analysis of log files, enhancement, customizations, code modifications for timely software patch and service pack releases.

Required Skills and Experience:

--3+ years of progressive software engineering experience; 1-2 years of development experience on a core platform product  and relevant experience in product sustainability including feature enhancements, code customizations, and patch code development.

Summer Internships Department of Atmospheric Sciences, University of Utah Salt Lake City, UT


 Background. A new web-based open virtual community is being created to foster the exchange of ideas and information about environmental monitoring networks. Environets will be a forum/mashup for the continually growing and diverse community of owners, operators, and users of environmental data. Network owners operate and maintain observing platforms for a wide range of reasons: protection of life and property; management of air and water quality and water availability; transportation and fire weather; agriculture; diverse commercial needs; recreational interests, etc. Federal, state, and local agencies, commercial firms, educational institutions, and private citizens all participate in collecting environmental information. Environets will be a way to let others know what’s new and a mechanism to exchange ideas and information on best practices and standards developed within specific user communities. 

Summer Internships. We are looking for 2-3 highly motivated undergraduate or graduate students to develop a state-of-the-art mashup to engage the environmental monitoring community. The development of the web site will be guided by members of the MesoWest team (http://mesowest.utah.edu) at the University of Utah and others in the environmental community involved in the project. The site’s basic structure will likely be developed using WordPress. Preference will be given to individuals available full time from May 15-August 15, but options for part-time internships may be available. Salary will be $15-$18 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. 

Requirements. Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program with exposure in the classroom or work environment to best practices for developing social-media oriented web sites and mashups. Programming experience using one or more of the following is desirable: Wordpress, SQL/MySQL databases, perl, Python, API development, Javascript, HTML5, CSS3, AJAX designed web pages, mobile device support, and software version control. Candidates must be self-driven, accountable under minimal supervision to reach project goals, and comfortable working in a research environment with other employees.
