Cyber Initiative

The Cyber Initiative applications will be open from December 5, 2012 through January 14, 2013.

The positions that have an open application are:

To be eligible for these positions, applicants must be pursuing (intern only) or have obtained a degree in one or more of the following areas:

Minimum Requirements:

Special Agent:
·         Between the ages of 23 and 36
·         Bachelor’s degree and one year of full-time work experience in one or more of the above areas
·         Be available for assignment anywhere in the FBI’s jurisdiction
·         Be in excellent physical condition, with the ability to pass a rigorous physical fitness test

Computer Scientist:
·         Bachelor’s degree in computer science or any degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.  Fifteen of those hours must include differential and integral calculus.

Information Technology Forensic Examiner:
·         Bachelor’s degree with at least 20 hours in one or more of the disciplines related to computers (see the posting for more information)

Cyber Intelligence Analyst:
·         Similar degrees and/or experience as noted for all Cyber positions, with a heavy emphasis on analytical skills as well as oral and written communications.

Cyber Intern:
·         Dates of Program: June 3, 2013-August 9, 2013
·         Must be enrolled and attending a college or university, full-time, that is accredited by one of the regional or national institutional associations recognized by the United States Secretary of Education
·         Classified as an Undergraduate (Junior or Senior), Graduate or Post Doctorate Student at the time of hire. (A participant cannot graduate before the program begins.)
·         Prior to applying and during the program, students must have and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) or a 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale and be in good standing with their academic institution.
·         All travel costs will be sole responsibility of the student.

Disqualifiers (Drug Policy):

You can easily determine whether you meet the FBI’s illegal drug policy by answering the following questions:

·         Have you used marijuana at all within the last three years?
·         Have you used any other illegal drug (including anabolic steroids after February 27, 1991) at all in the past 10 years?
·         Have you ever sold, distributed, manufactured, or transported any illegal drug?
·         Have you ever used any prescription drug or used a legally obtained substance in a manner for which it was not intended with three years (36 months) preceding the date of the preliminary application for employment?

If you answered Yes to any of these questions, you are not eligible for employment or an internship with the FBI at this time.
