Project Manager position



 



Scope


Data-Systems International (DSI) provides ClientTrack solutions that encompass both software and services designed to meet the unique needs of individual organizations, multi-organizational collaborations, and multi-divisional state or local governments. DSI clients are primarily Health, Human and Social Service organizations.
The primary responsibility of a DSI project manager is to provide our clients with high quality solutions that are delivered to the client’s satisfaction. At DSI, project managers also serve as business analysts to gather requirements and determine the right solution to advance the missions of our clients by enhancing their ability to gather, use and report information. A  DSI project manager works directly with DSI clients throughout a project’s life cycle.

 

Roles & Responsibilities


Project Management – A DSI project manager’s primary responsibility is the successful implementation of their assigned projects. Responsibilities in the project lifecycle that support successful projects include:
·       Project Planning
    • Develop a clear problem statement
    • Understand and document stakeholders
    • Define project objectives
    • Determine and document scope
    • Identify resources needed
    • Estimate Cost
    • Create schedule
·       Initiate
    • Kickoff call with project team and client
    • Conduct Day in the Life (DiTL) analysis activity as first event after project kickoff
    • Assemble project team – DSI project teams often include engineers, developers, DBAs, and quality analysts.
    • Assign tasks and provide detailed instructions (i.e. work packets) for assigned tasks.
·       Implementation
    • Manage project execution
    • Report progress to client and internal (DSI) stakeholders
    • Conduct regular project meetings
    • Release project deliverables for User Acceptance testing
·       Closeout
    • Work closely with clients to ensure successful use of the final product
    • Provide a sustainability plan for each project that includes instructions for ongoing support
    • Conduct project post-mortems to review project performance and share lessons learned with peers
    • Ensure project documentation and related assets are stored in the project file

Solution Engineering - A DSI project manager serves as a business analyst (formal title “Solution Engineer”) with potential and existing clients. The purpose of this role is to pinpoint the problem the project is intended to resolve, develop requirements, and produce a scope of work that solves the problem. In this role, a DSI project manager is responsible for:
  • Creating the contract scope of work. The contract scope of work is a proposed solution to the problem the project is intended to solve.
  • Reviewing RFPs (requests for proposals/pricing) to determine the appropriate scope of work and cost of implementation projects. The solution engineer is responsible for documenting the scope of work in a proposal delivered as part of the RFP response.
  • Responsible for creating solutions that:
·       Establish organizational best practices through improved efficiency
·       Optimize collaborations within and between organizations
·       Ensure compliance with funding sources
·       Enhance outcomes reporting to strengthen fundraising and build community awareness
  • Working with existing clients of DSI when a solution project is needed. In this role, DSI solution engineers will analyze the problem and produce a scope of work. In some cases the problem resolution results in a services-based contract with the client.


Other responsibilities
  • A DSI project manager is an expert on the use of the ClientTrack Enterprise Data Management Tools and Platform
  • A DSI project manager understands how ClientTrack solutions, features, and benefits provide value to their clients
  • A DSI project manager is a valuable member of a team. It is expected that a DSI project manager will collaborate with other project managers, participate in team meetings, and provider backup support to other team members when needed.
  • Bolster knowledge management system through the development of relevant content based on interactions with clients.

Metrics & Accountability

·       A DSI project manager is measured on his/her ability to succeed in the following areas:
o   Ability to document requirements and project deliverables in a project scope of work. A DSI project scope of work content includes requirements, risks, deliverables, constraints, and a work breakdown structure.
o   Ability to create project plans that include project charter, schedules, costs, resources, and other content that prepare for a successful project.
o   Ability to execute project plans. Execution is measure by project cost, schedule, and, most important, client delight in relation to the project’s product.
o   Ability to provide accurate information about the project status to our clients and the DSI organization.
o   Ability to close a project on time that achieves the stated goal of the project
·       A DSI Project Manager is accountable for:
o   The quality and fitness of a proposed solution during pre-contract analysis
o   Project planning
o   Garnering sufficient resources to execute a project on time
o   Delighting clients with the quality and execution of a project
o   Risk management
o   Documenting client engagements, client needs, and other relevant details necessary to ensuring client delight
·       Demonstrate exceptional proficiency with the ClientTrack configuration and reporting tools
·       Maintain a scorecard, metrics and goals, for reporting to senior staff monthly
·       Produce bi-weekly Contract Status Reports (CSRs)
·       Create, maintain and publish a Personal Planning and Status Report that includes assigned tasks, backlog, and planned/forecasted dates for each.

Education, Work Experience and Skills


Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, business information systems, project management and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Two or more years of project management experience
  • PMP or other professional project management certification preferred
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
  • Must have excellent communication (written and oral) skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong self-sufficiency and initiative when working with clients
  • Must be able to think critically and analytically
  • Comprehensive understanding of relational data models and data analysis
  • Full awareness of business issues as they impact overall solution needs
  • Understanding of the project life cycle and ability to manage a project through each stage of the life cycle.
  • Able to manage cross functional teams
Equipment and Applications
  • Working knowledge of the Windows operating system required. 
  • Experience with SQL is a plus.
  • Experience with ClientTrack products is a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • General office environment. 
  • Moderate levels of stress may occur at times. 
  • Will be required to meet deadlines
  • No special physical demands required.
  • Some travel required.
Suggested Special Skills
  • Experience with Health, Human and Social Services organizations a plus
  • Experience using Microsoft Reporting Services, Crystal Reports or Active Reports a plus
