Technical Program Manager

O.C. Tanner develops employee recognition and rewards programs that help companies appreciate people who do great work.

As part of that effort, we build large-scale, international, multi-million user web and mobile applications used by companies like FedEx, Texas Roadhouse, Home Depot, and American Express. And we’re doing it with technologies like Heroku, iOS, Android, Rails and Node.js. If web and mobile apps are your thing, we’ve got that.

We’re creating a new Technical Program Management practice. A Technical Program Manager at O.C. Tanner is part solution designer, part project manager, part business analyst, part metrics manager, and part technical business manager. Technical Program Managers incessantly push for clarity on the who, what, why, how and when of our work. The Technical Program Manager is the leader who relentlessly organizes and guides our product development teams to exceed our business objectives, nail our customer’s needs and delight and empower the people who use our products and services.

Responsibilities

Our Technical Program Managers partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, Front-End Engineers, Back-End Engineers, Mobile Engineers, QA Engineers and others to do the following:

•             Clearly understand and prioritize business objectives and customer needs

•             Design, build and deliver solutions that will meet or exceed the objectives and needs

•             Measure and report actual performance against baseline measures

•             Work continuously to improve performance against the objectives and needs

•             Help define and execute standards and practices that enable our development teams to do this as quickly and effectively as possible

•             Create an environment that attracts, empowers and retains technical people of the highest caliber

Applying candidates must have each of the following:

•             Strong technical breadth in web application development

•             The ability to represent customers in a development team

Exceptional candidates will have done one or more of the following:

•             Practiced the Lean Startup approach

•             Worked on a team that does Test-Driven Development and Continuous Delivery

•             Designed a user experience for a web app and/or mobile device

•             Coded a web app that runs on Heroku or a similar PAAS

•             Started a business

•             Contributed to an open source project

•             Worked on a large-scale, international, multi-million user web app

•             Hand-coded the HTML/CSS for a Responsive website

•             Developed and published a mobile app for iOS and/or Android devices
