Application developer: data collection and management, engineering and office productivity / Salt Lake City

Our client, ETC Group (www.etcgrp.com), is seeking an experienced Application Developer with strong data management and communications protocol background to develop and maintain data collection management, analysis  and reporting systems, and assist with creating office productivity solutions in support ETC Group’s energy efficiency work .   

Duties and responsibilities. 

·       Create and manage data structures – collection, processing, storage, analysis, reporting, user interface development and training.
·       Work with all staff to apply technology to internal processes to customize, streamline and manage development and delivery of analysis reports and tools, relying heavily on Microsoft infrastructure.
·       Work with energy engineers to obtain and process data and energy system information. Provide in-office and field support for building control system evaluation, reporting and programming. Trend management, system reporting and diagnostics, code review, etc.
·       Assist with integration of internal operations tools. Designing, coding and debugging applications in various software languages.

Required Skills/Experience

·       Experience with applications development focused on data base skills: data processing, data management and User Interface design.
·       Experience with Microsoft platforms and integration: SharePoint Foundation, Office, MS SQL, InfoPath, VBA.
·       Experience with at least one high level programming language.
·       Strong organizational skills.  Ability to comprehend big-picture goals and appropriate level of detail at various stages of product development.
·       Strong problem solving abilities with an attention to details.
·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·       Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with non-programming technical professionals.
·       Minimum Certification of Associate’s degree in Computers, Technology or related field.

Desired Qualifications

·       Familiarity with communication protocols such as TCP/ IP, LON, SOAP, BacNet, Modbus, …
·       Familiarity with industrial and building control systems – communication, architecture, programming, and system integration.
·       Familiar with Agile ,TDD and other software development concepts.
·       Desire to produce self documenting code.
·       Understanding of version control systems (including setup/maintenance).
