BoxWorks Technologies, Inc. is seeking candidates to fill one or more part-time software engineering positions. Individuals will receive training and be expected to perform coding in C/Unix/PHP and/or J2EE software development environments.
BoxWorks, a Salt Lake City-based engineering and integration company, provides services to clients across the USA. We develop innovative and practical equipment and software solutions for distribution, manufacturing and business optimization. We count many of the Fortune 500 companies among our clients.
We are looking for self-starters with a positive can-do attitude. Ideal candidates must be comfortable working with a diverse group of people as a strong team player and must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as be a versatile engineer.
Desired Qualifications:
§ 3GL programming experience in a language such as C
§ Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot under pressure
§ Basic project management experience with the ability to be self sufficient
§ Knowledge of basic Unix Operating System Architecture.
§ Knowledge of basic Unix Operating System Commands.
§ Versed in a screen based editor, preferably VI.
§ Understanding of Web Based Programming, HTML and PHP
§ Experience with J2EE Architecture and Tools including Java, Spring, Hibernate
§ Understanding of processes, logic, and access methods surrounding an ISAM Database, preferably FairCom’s C-Tree.
§ Understanding of design and administration of a relational database with direct experience using Oracle, MySQL, Postgres or equivalent
Functional experience in one or more of the following programming areas:
§ Experience with a structured programming language such as C
§ Object-oriented design and programming using Java, C++, PHP
§ SQL database design and programming
Responsibilities:
§ Work under the supervision of project leaders to understand and accomplish software project tasks
§ Participate in requirements definition, analysis and design of system solutions.
§ Write program specifications and make configuration and programming changes.
§ Carry out unit, integration, and acceptance testing.
§ Develop end user documentation and conduct training of key users.
§ Prepare and organize technical documentation for new and existing applications.
§ Report to various project managers
This position pays from $13-15/hr DOE with a flexible working schedule within an exciting, welcoming atmosphere. Candidates would be expected to work between 15 and 30 hours per week, with flexible hours anytime M-F 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM (great for working around school schedules). Part-time positions have the potential of becoming full-time with benefits.
