Temporary summer job opportunity (100% FTE) for someone with appropriate programming skills: programming in Java and large data manipulation required. To work with a genetic epidemiology team, led by Prof. Nicola Camp PhD, seeking to identify novel genetic risk variants for common cancers.
Responsibilities:
1. Computer literacy is essential, including skills for manipulation and summarization of large data sets.
2. Scientific programming skills required, including familiarity with Java and Perl.
3. Previous experience with statistical methods preferred; including knowledge of R, SAS, SPSS or Stata.
4. Familiarity with pedigree structure data and medical and genetic terminology preferred.
5. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and assist multiple researchers in preparing analysis files, manuscripts and presentation materials.
6. Provide support for data preparation, data analysis, literature searches, and data summary for reports.
Possibility exists for continuing employment after the summer at 50-60% FTE.
