GENERAL NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION: This position performs the duties in assisting management primarily in computer technical support. The position comes with many intangible perks, in particular a supportive, fun work environment. The position primarily calls for solid interpersonal skills in working with staff & faculty in troubleshooting technical issues with client workstations, including hardware and software issues and functionality. These duties include responding to support requests and performing assigned projects. Examples of projects include computer setup & configuration, following inventory procedures, some end-user training, and communication with vendors for product research and support. This person must be organized, have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access and be comfortable learning new technology skills as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Primary:
· Troubleshooting basic software and hardware issues with client workstations· Perform basic, periodic software / operating system updates of client machines
· Developing creative means of meeting client's technical needs using existing resources
Secondary:
· Training Interns, staff, and faculty on basic technical competencies· Assist with inventory management
· Backup various technical roles
COMPETENCIES:
Required:
· Mac OS 10.5+ and Win 7 OS· MS Office for Mac 2011 and MS Office for Win 2007 & 2007
· Virus, trojan, malware removal
· Hardware and Software troubleshooting
· Communication and Organizational skills
· Conceptual understanding of servers and connectivity
Preferred:
· Cloud computing (e.g. RedCloud, DropBox, etc.)· Database design and input (both Filemaker and MS Access)
· Web design and maintenance
· Inventory experience
· Budget experience
· OS X 10.5 + Server
SUPERVISES: None
EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years of directly related experience. Excellent troubleshooting skills. Good communication skills (written, oral and listening). Must have ability to work independently as well as be a team player, and be able to find creative strategies to meet client needs.
