Student lab aid needed on campus

Responsibilities
    
1. Web programming in PHP and Java
2. Database creation and management of existing databases.
3. Desktop application programming and customization in Java.
4. Quality assurance and error reporting of above.

Problem Solving
The incumbent follows well-established laboratory procedures to complete work. Sensitive or unusual situations are referred to the supervisor. Work is performed under the close supervision of senior laboratory personnel. Work is frequently reviewed for accuracy and to ensure adherence to research protocols.

    
Qualifications
    
**The application must be a student with an accepted Work-Study award for the 11/12 academic year. Work-Study award status may be viewed through CIS on the Financial Aid Status page.**

Entry level position where on the job training is provided. Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions and to keep accurate records is required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.General knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment and terminology as well as the ability to operate and care for laboratory equipment along with the knowledge of appropriate specimen handling techniques preferred.Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description

Preferences
    
Required fluency in Java, SQL, HTML, CSS. PHP experience preferred. Graphic design experience a plus. Experience working in the software development industry a plus.
